Elementary Art Program Overview
Unlocking Creativity Through Core Art Foundations
Our Elementary Art Program is designed to foster creativity and build essential skills through a sequential and cyclical curriculum.
By progressively exploring the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design, students not only learn art techniques but also develop a deep appreciation for art history. Here's what our young artists will explore:
Foundational Concepts: Dive into the Elements of Art and Principles of Design to create visually compelling pieces.
Drawing Skills: From observational and perspective drawing to life and figure sketches, students refine their ability to represent the world around them. Students will explore a diverse range of dry media, including graphite, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, and ink.
Composition and Color: Learn the intricate concepts of 2D composition and color theory to enhance artistic expression.
Painting Techniques: Experiment with various media such as acrylics, watercolors, gouache, learning manipulation techniques that bring ideas to life.
Art History: Travel through time exploring influential artists, both historical and contemporary, to understand their impact on the art world and society.
Authentic Assessment: Engage in assessments that reflect real-world art critique, helping students evaluate and elevate their art.
Personal Expression: Encourage self-expressive processes that allow students to communicate personal meaning and narratives through their artworks.
Each lesson is tailored to spark curiosity and encourage self-expression, ensuring students not only learn but also connect with the art they create. Join us to give your child a transformative artistic journey!
